With the use of robot assisted gynecologic surgery there are significant benefits to the patient but there are also several unique challenges with this type of surgery. The objective will be to describe these challenges from the perspective of the anesthesia team to an audience of non-anesthesiologists. The talk will help identify which patients are at higher risk and outline the necessary pre-operative workup for patients with suspected gynecologic malignancy. Special focus and discussion will take place regarding intra-operative challenges including safe positioning, optimizing ventilation, and other anesthetic issues during surgery. It will end with the post-operative concerns and management options for these patients.
